Hint Okyanusu kıyısında yer alan Pemba adasında balıkçılar akşam saatlerinde kıyıya dönüyor. Bu balıkçı kız omzunda taşıdığı balığı evine götürüyor. Evin akşam yemeğini güvence altına almış halde güvenli adımlar atıyor. Tanzania Royal Tour çekimleri için Tanzanya'da bir ay kaldım. Görüntü yönetmenliği yaptığım PBS için hazırlanan programın çekimleri tamamlanmıştı. Zanzibar'ın kuzeyinde bulunan Pemba Adası'nda tatil günüydü. Tropikal bir adada tatil yapmanın en bilindik yöntemi okyanusta yüzmek ve Hindistan cevizi suyu içerek hamağa uzanmak olsa da tercihim fotoğraf çekmekten yanaydı. Fotoğraf makinemi alıp okyanus kıyısına indim. Bulutlu bir gündü ve balıkçılar kıyıya yanaşıyordu.
Gri kasvetli havada bir anda belirdi. Kırmızı kıyafetleri ve bulutlu gökyüzü arasındaki kontrast göz alıcıydı. Sanki bir rüyanın parçası gibiydim. Ama gerçekti. Bu rengarenk ülke her köşesinde fotojenik bir detay taşıyor. Bu açıdan fotoğrafçılara sınırsız olanaklar sunuyor. Bu süreçte elimden geldiğince hayatın akışına uyum sağlamaya çalıştım. Hayatın temposunu deklanşörün hızına uyarlamaya çalıştım. Ne anın gerisinde kalmaya, ne de o ana erken ulaşmaya...
Fishergirl fotoğrafı New York menşeili Decagon Gallery'nin Flash #9 sergisi için seçtiği 37 fotoğraftan biri olmaya hak kazandı.
Fotoğraf, Portekiz'de düzenlenen Lumicroma fotoğraf yarışmasında 82 ülkeden katılan binlerce fotoğraf arasından 74 finalist arasında olmaya hak kazandı ve ardından oylama ile "Public Award" sahibi oldu.

On the island of Pemba, located on the coast of the Indian Ocean, the fishermen return to the shore in the evening. This fishergirl takes the fish she carries on her shoulder to her home. She takes safe steps by securing the evening meal of the house.
I stayed in Tanzania for 1 month due to a Tanzania Royal Tour documentary project. The shooting of the program prepared for PBS, in which I served as the director of photography, had been completed. It was a off day on Pemba Island, located in the north of Zanzibar. Although the most common way to vacation on a tropical island is swimming in the ocean and lying on a hammock drinking coconut water, my preference was to take photos. I took my camera and went down to the ocean shore. It was a cloudy day and the fishermen were approaching the shore.
She suddenly appeared in gray air. The contrast between her red clothes and the cloudy sky was eye-catching. She was carrying her fish with quick steps, concentrating on her work. It was like I was in a fragment of a dream. But it was real.
This colorful country carries a photogenic detail in every corner. It offers the photographers
unlimited possibilities. In this process, I tried to adapt myself to the flow of life as much as I could. I tried to adapt the pace of life to the speed of my shutter. I tried neither to lag behind the moment nor to reach that moment early.
The Fishergirl photograph was deemed worthy of being one of the 37 photographs selected by New York-based Decagon Gallery for the Flash #9 exhibition.
The photo was entitled to be among the 74 finalists among thousands of photographs participating from 82 countries in the Lumicroma photography competition held in Portugal, and then received the "Public Award" by voting.
